Power Max GX920 Irons

Power Max GX920 Irons

(as alternative to the Callaway®'s X20 Irons)

Power Max GX920 Irons as alternative to the Callaway X20 Irons

Manufacturer: Giga Golf

Model: Power Max GX920 Irons

Compares to: Callaway®'s X20 Irons

Manufacturer's Description Details: Loaded with the latest in golf technology. New thinner face maximizes ball speed resulting in more distance even at slower swing speeds. The deep notched cavity and fine center sole allows weight to be redistributed low and away from the impact area which provides a stable and forgiving ball strike. Excellent choice for the High to Mid handicap player looking for distance and forgiveness in their iron game. The best configuration for most golfers is True Temper Finest Quality Feather Flight steel shafts and VX grips.

Our Review: The Power Max GX920 Irons look sleeker than i.e. earlier Callaway models like the X-14 and X-16, and are made from polished stainless steel with a large cavity.

The irons provide moderate feedback, and it is not easy to tell where the ball made impact at the clubface. This is not really an issue as the clubs are very forgiving, and even off-center hits are surprisingly straight. This is quite likely due to the lower center of gravity which reduces the twisting of the club during the swing.

We also found that the balls flew higher than those hit with blades and rolled very little, both considered good characteristics. Distance was about the same, but control was better with the Power Max GX920. As expected the mid to high irons were the easiest to hit.

Likes:The Power Max GX920 Irons are a good choice for a beginning player, or an intermediate who only plays occasionally. They proved to be reliable, are well balanced and are easy to hit. They are very forgiving and give decent distance. Great value for money!

Dislikes: Only comes as a right hand club.

Super irons, i added about 20 yards distance and i have better accuracy now. Probably the best irons i have played so far, and i have played the original callaway x20 irons. On top of that they are also custom fitted, definitely no regrets here.

I checked out Callaway X20 at my local golf store and was taken aback by the $1200 price tag (CDN). After reading all the positive reviews on Gigagolf, I thought what the heck, for $200 bucks I'll try them out. I ordered the Power Max GX920 Irons. I received my clubs on time and I was very impressed with the way the looked and felt. Very comparable to X20's. I've played a few rounds with these clubs and have not noticed a huge difference in my score. I did shoot a 44 on the front nine of a very challenging course in my area(the Oaks of St.George) only to see my score on the back nine rise to my usual 58. These clubs are easy to hit, but if you really want to improve your score, take some lessons. I signed up for a series of 3 lessons in my hometown after my second round with these clubs and hopefully will be breaking 90 by next spring. Am I impressed with these clubs?...Yes. Would I buy from Giga again?...yes. Would I recommend Giga to others?...Absolutley. Why pay all that money for brand names?
