Integra Quadratic Square Driver

Integra Quadratic Square Driver

(as alternative to the Callaway® FT-i)

Manufacturer: Redwing Golf

Model: Integra Quadratic Square Driver

Compares to: Callaway® FT-i

Manufacturer's Description Details: The Integra SoooLong Quadratic Driver is at the pinnacle of driver technology. This technology works by moving the weight further back on the driver and more towards the heel and toe--hence the square shape. This way, it creates a more forgiving driver. To understand this driver, it's important to understand Moment of Inertia (MOI). MOI is the term applied to how resistant the clubhead is to twisting when a ball is struck. For example, if your swing is a little off and you hit the ball on the toe of the clubhead, a clubhead with a higher MOI will twist less as a result of the mis-hit. This creates a better chance that the ball will still go where you intended and with less loss of distance. Testing has shown 8-10 percent improvement with regards to accuracy on mis-hit shots. Combine this new square-like shape with a carbon fiber crown and explosive beta titanium and you will have the hottest driver for the 2008 season.

Our Review: While it's looks may no be for everyone it seems the square head will be the new trend for Titanium drivers. The Integra Quadratic Square Driver is modelled after the Callaway FT-i which has been very successful. The square shape design increases both horizontal and vertical stability which in turn results in a very high Moment of Inertia (MOI, reduced 'twisting' at impact), thus assuring a long and accurate shot.

In a nutshell, the higher the MOI of a club, the more forgiving the club will be on mis-hits. As an example, let's say you hit the ball on the toe of your driver. A higher-MOI driver will twist less at impact and the ball will still end up reasonably close to the intended target compared to a similar miss-hit off a lower-MOI club (= which would twist more).

If you can get over the shape this is an excellent club in case you are plagued by regular miss-hits.

Likes:The Integra Quadratic Square Driver is a good choice for a beginning player, or any player who would benefit from an increased MOI. Great value for money!

Dislikes: Shape needs some getting used to

It wasn't for me. Tried it out for 8 rounds. Lost over 20 yards avg. distance & had no greater control over my "old" driver. Switched back to my "old" driver, changed some things about my swing and I'm hitting it better.
